What comes to mind when you hear the word "childhood"? Perhaps you imagine family dinners, school activities and holidays with grandma and grandpa.
Thousands of young people in Colombia, South America, cannot relate to such warm childhood memories. Their innocence vanished long ago in a volatile atmosphere fueled by drug wars for more than 40 years. Guerrilla and paramilitary groups deprive little ones of a positive upbringing and education in exchange for the promise of compensation and status of owning a gun.
When you hear these facts about enslaved children, it's overwhelming. But there is good news. These young people have a way of escape, and you can help!

For the past 5 years we have been working with kidnapped children in Colombia. The children are forced to be child soldiers and fight with and for the militia.Recently I particpated in a No more FARC or No mas FARC protest to send a message to FARC that we want them to stop; stop the kidnapping and violence.
American can help in stopping the violence by not using drugs. It is the demand for drugs that fuels war in Colombia. American create the demand for illicit drugs and this in turn drives the drug war in Colombia. Help eliminate the kidnapping of children in Colombia by stopping the use of drugs.
